We all know: children love being by the sea, playing on the beach and building sandcastles. This is one of the reasons why the Etruscan Coast has always been greatly appreciated by families.
Indeed, the Tuscan coast offers beaches equipped for children, crystal clear sea framed by the shade of pine trees and holiday villages with all the comforts needed for both parents and children alike, such as our Park Albatros Village and Montescudaio Village.
But that’s not all!
If, between taking a dive and grabbing an ice cream on the seafront, you feel like having an unforgettable experience with the whole family, there are plenty of attractions in the area. From amusement parks to water parks, to discovering the area's typical mammals and birds, the Etruscan Coast offers trips and activities for all tastes.
Let's start with one of the most popular attractions during the summer, which is also one of the most anticipated during the winter: the Cecina and Follonica Water Parks!
With no less than 7 pools and 2 km of slides, everyone will love these Hawaii hideaways, their hills for surfing, their artificial wave pools, waterfalls and sensory showers!
The two parks are open every day starting from June 2020.
Is your child a big cartoon fan? Do they know every last one of the Disney classics?
Here's how to turn a cultural trip into a fun adventure for the little ones: in addition to its beautiful church without a ceiling, the Abbey of San Galgano also houses the famous sword in the stone, the very same one that the young King Arthur managed to pull out before the astonished eyes of his knights.
Find out more about the story here.
San Galgano is located in the municipality of Chiusdino, an hour's drive from Park Albatros and a little further from Montescudaio.
A few kilometres further south, towards Capalbio, Tuscany is home to a mysterious, magical and spiritual garden, inspired by Gaudi's Park Guell in Barcelona: the Tarot Garden.
Its author Niki de Saint Phalle began construction in 1979 together with her husband, creating 22 monumental structures in reinforced concrete, covered with mirrors, glass and ceramics of all colours.
As the name suggests, the immense statues represent the arcana of the Tarot, or rather the most esoteric and symbolic characters of the deck of playing cards: the High Priestess, the Magician, the Emperor, etc.
The Tarot Garden is located less than 2 hours from the Villages and is the ideal place to spark your children's imagination: the author herself placed a ban on guided tours in order not to limit the observers' free interpretation.
The time has come to transform into Tarzan in the Giardino Sospeso (Handing Garden) thanks to the acrobatic routes on offer at the adventure park, which is very close to the Villages. The park features many organised activities with varied levels of difficulty. Expert instructors and protective devices such as helmets and harnesses will make the experience even more fun and safe.
You can enjoy the thrill of gliding from one tree to another through a system of pulleys, crossing suspended bridges in the woods and hanging from vines like monkeys!
During the summer season, the park is open every day from 10:00 until sunset.
Parco Gallorose is a green oasis that stretches over 5 hectares and hosts animals from all over the world, not forgetting the traditional Tuscan farm animals, improving awareness and respect for the diversity of the species.
Red kangaroos, giant squirrels and lemurs from Madagascar: these are just some of the animals you can get to know inside the park.
If you want your children to discover the wonders of nature, don't miss out on a visit to the park, which just 15 minutes from Montescudaio and 30 from Park Albatros!
While we're on the subject, there is another obligatory stop for lovers of the animal world: the Livorno Aquarium, the largest in Tuscany! With as many as 33 tanks and various edutainment activities, the aquarium is home to many different species of aquatic animals, from turtles to jellyfish, to blacktip sharks.
Furthermore, since 2018 the family has grown to make room for leafcutter ants, social and responsible insects with very specific habits and tasks.
The destination is open all year round and is less than an hour away from the Villages.
We end in style with a classic choice for the little ones: the Cavallino Matto amusement park.
It contains 30 attractions divided by theme and age, from those for children to the most adrenaline-filled ones, such as the Shocking Tower or the Freestyle rollercoaster.
Completely immersed in the Tuscan green pine forest, the park is located in Marina di Castagneto, less than half an hour from both Park Albatros and Montescudaio.
Now you can be sure that your holiday will be anything but boring!
