So let's walk along the Florence night route through its livelier districts!

Piazza Santa Croce and surroundings

Let's start from the Piazza Santa Croce area! We are a stone's throw from the Duomo of Florence and next to the church that houses the tombs of the most famous figures in Italian history!

The Santa Croce district is certainly one of the most touristy but, nevertheless, it doesn't lack interesting bars.

To see them all, take the square as a reference point, with your the back to the church, check out both sides of the street now in front of you: it is Via dei Benci which then becomes Via Verdi, home of the well-known theatre of the same name.

As you move from one side of the street to the other, you will surely find the place that suits you best; they range from traditional vinaino [wine bars], to classic American pubs with lots of karaoke; from sophisticated and trendy cocktail bars, to those places perfect for enjoying a quality drink served conveniently outside.

Any advice?

For an abundant and well-cooked light dinner, try Moyo 's, a stone's throw from the bridge that crosses the river. If, however, you have already eaten and want to concentrate on the taste of a good, artistically-mixed cocktail, look for it at Fuk Cocktail Bar, Cafè & More, or just walk a few steps towards the centre in one of Florence's little streets for a luxurious cocktail at the Locale.

The coolest neighborhood is San Frediano and surroundings

Voted the coolest district in the world by the magazine Lonely Planet in 2017, the characteristic San Frediano district has popular historical origins. This is the neighborhood of the little shops, beyond the river, and the artisan spirit of Florence. Today, it stands out for the charm of the past and a renewed hipster soul!

Look for the central street, Borgo San Frediano, and then let yourself be carried away by the windows of the Florentine bars. The street is full of activity of all kinds: there are typical trattorias and gourmet pizzerias, bars for great light dinners and more authentic ones, frequented by young Florentines.

At the entrance to the next street, Via Santo Spirito, you will see Gosh*, a curiously decorated cocktail bar with gin & tonic for all tastes!

Go with the flow and you will arrive in Piazza Santo Spirito, surrounded by picturesque bars where you can enjoy an aperitif on the terrace, overlooking the square. And for those who prefer to experience the popular spirit of Florence, there is nothing better than to sit on the steps of the church of Santo Spirito and watch the swarm of people: street musicians, radical chic to chat about and groups of students.

Among the many, the best place to have a good cocktail and enjoy a gourmet dinner or a delicious pizza is T'amerò, the latest arrival in the square.

Final suggestion: Rasputin. I cannot tell you much, because it is a secret place, in prohibition style: no sign, no house number and no website. So how do you find it? Easy, just ask someone in the square and they will show you the way.

Bars in central Florence

The historic centre of Florence is not particularly well-known for its nightlife; it is more of a tourist area with great historical monuments and big brand shops. Yet, you can still find some interesting places, worth spending a couple of hours in, if you wander around from square to square.

Let's start with the first, the one preferred by young people: Colle Bereto! It is located in Piazza Strozzi, right in the centre of Florence. Take a seat on the ample, comfortable terrace in the middle of the completely pedestrian square for a classic cocktail or a typical Italian dish.

A few metres away, towards Piazzo di San Lorenzo, there is La Ménagère . The restaurant is a real design gem, with floral arrangements, household utensils and products and an eclectic urban-style décor. The menu and the drink list are also created with an eye to the latest trends, including the richly decorated spritz and the vegan and gluten free selection.

Do you want a beer? Maybe one of those craft beers on tap whose white foam you can dive right into? You can find exactly what you are looking for a few metres from Florence station, the Fabbricato Viaggiatori has made beer its philosophy. You can toast the hops and munch some tapas before dinner.

Well what's left to say, it's time to get ready and go in search of the best drink in Florence!
