The eternal city never sleeps and it's really hard to get bored at any time of the year, but in summer the capital is illuminated with a special light: the days are getting longer, people's moods are lifting, Rome is full of all kinds of events and activities for all tastes.
As music lovers know, there are several concerts and music festivals that take place in Rome during the summer. If you live in Rome or are planning a trip to the capital and want to take advantage of your trip by enjoying a good concert, here is a brief review of the main summer events in Rome.
Rock in Rome is probably the biggest musical event of the summer in Rome. Starting in 2009, it is now a festival that is well known internationally. In previous editions, it has seen artists such as the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters and many others make an appearance on stage. This year, the event will take place from the 22nd of June to the 27th of July and concerts will be held in places that are evocative to say the least: Circus Maximus, near the majesty of the Colosseum; the Hippodrome of Capannelle, a historical location of the festival; in the magical setting of Ostia Antica, the Roman Theatre; in the Cave outside the Parco della Musica Auditorium. On stage, several artists of international renown will alternate, from Ben Harper to Kraftwerk, along with 30 Seconds to Mars and Skunk Anansie, and Italian artists from both the independent and commercial scene. Undoubtedly a festival that offers a lot of beautiful music for all tastes.

The Auditorium of Rome, promoted and managed by Fondazione Musica per Roma (the Music Foundation for Rome), is a musical institution that is well known to the locals, but also to many visitors. Throughout the year, it offers a series of concerts and shows of all kinds, made unique by the beauty and perfect acoustics of the building's halls, located in the city centre.
The Auditorium also participates in the Rome music summer with its own event known as Rome Summer Fest 2019, which will continue until the 2nd of August. On stage, very famous artists will alternate, like Toto and Tears for Fears, and others that are more sought-after or emerging, such as The Cinematic Orchestra, Aurora and Apparat. There are also Italian artists, such as Maneskin, Tiromancino and Fiorella Mannoia.

The stage of Summertime 2019 is set up in the park of Villa Osio, near the Testaccio district, and hosts the best of the Italian and international jazz scene. The festival offers not only jazz concerts, but also blues, soul, swing and funk. An excellent destination for those who love enjoying rhythms and melodies from different parts of the world.
